BTS’ MAP OF THE SOUL by ARMY
Editor Wallea Eaglehawk is calling for submissions for the BTS’ MAP OF THE SOUL by ARMY book project. Along the same vein as her previously successful LOVE YOURSELF era books (Love Yourself: Essays on self-love, care and healing inspired by BTS and Through the darkness, I will love myself), this new project will draw inspiration from the iconic Map of the Soul era.
The Map of the Soul era combined Jungian-inspired reflections, dark concepts, mind-bending choreography and explosions of pop to showcase the depth of BTS’ seven years as a creative powerhouse. ARMY are invited to submit completed works drawing inspiration from Map of the Soul: Persona and Map of the Soul: 7 that share their unique understanding and perspective on a concept, a song, or the entire era, in both analytical and creative ways. Be it Jung meets BTS in a darkened alley, a poem on finding ‘your’ time, an illustration of shadows forming under your feet, a creative essay on Dionysus that draws on myths and legends, a deep-dive into the lyrics of Louder Than Bombs and using them as a jumping off point to discuss global tensions and eco-anxiety… there’s a place for your strangest and most brilliant ideas amongst the pages of this to-be book.
Wallea is looking for essays, song and MV analysis & critique, creative nonfiction, flash fiction, poetry, short stories, and other creative artifacts that either respond specifically to the three Jungian pillars of Persona, Shadow, and Ego, key themes present in the era (friendship, an artist’s first death, resilience, going insane to stay sane, etc.), or a specific song from the era:
Intro: Persona
Boy with Luv
Make It Right
Jamais Vu
Dionysus
HOME
Mikrokosmos
Interlude: Shadow
Black Swan
Filter
My Time
Louder Than Bombs
On
Ugh!
00:00 (Zero O’Clock)
Inner Child
Friends
Moon
Respect
We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal
Outro: Ego
